Prayer: “Precious Lord, Please Untie These Not’s!”

Dear God, please untie the knots that continue to bind my heart and my life to the shackles of sin and seemingly never ending regret. Rid my life of this empty feeling, which was created by the “have-not’s”, “did-not’s” and “can-not’s” that I built a home for in my mind. Erase the fear caused by “will-not’s”, “may-not’s”, and “might-not’s” that so often burden my heart!

Release me, Dear God, from the clutches of the “could-not’s”, “would-not’s”, and “should-not’s” that obstruct my path to a brighter today and an even more glorious tomorrow. And most of all, Dear God, I ask and I pray that you would remove from my mind, my heart and my life all of the “am-not’s” that continue to hold me back from feeling worthy enough too love you, especially when I know how desperately I need your kind and loving support! Hear the words of my prayer Oh Gracious Lord, and lead me home…

Let us pray:

“Precious Lord, take my hand
Lead me on, let me stand
I am tired, I am weak, I am worn
Through the storm, through the night
Lead me on to the light
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home”

“When my way grows drear
Precious Lord linger near
When my life is almost gone
Hear my cry, hear my call
Hold my hand lest I fall
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home”*

"Take My Hand, Precious Lord" (aka "Precious Lord, Take My Hand") is a gospel song, written August 1932 by Rev. Thomas A. Dorsey (1899-1993
